SC07 rundown

SC07 infrastructure team: 10 days of wiring, taping, plugging, drinking, unplugging, untaping, unwiring, inventorying, and partying.

SC07 was a lot of fun this year. I reconnected with friends from years past and made new friends this year that I expect to see in the future. We may be able to create a proper recurring infrastructure team in coming years.

I won an ipod nano video from Intel. It’s got the latest firmware from October which has yet to be supported in rhythmbox (it crashes in the ipod access library when the ipod is attached). Hopefully this will be sorted out soon, otherwise, I’ll see about downgrading the firmware to one that works. I’d also like to know how to program the ipod. I’d like to make a google reader app for it that can download my reader feeds and upload the read/starred info at the next sync.

Now I have a 9 hour wait for my first flight (apparently, you can’t check in more than 6 hours before your flight), and I have an 8 hour overnight layover in LAX tonight.

Update: Reno airport has free wireless (though it's a bit finicky -- http connections occasionally (?) redirect to an airport page, which breaks podcast downloads.
Update: this report may be useful. It describes how the game DRM works.
mood: Prepared for an airport marath
music: Two old dudes sitting next to me talking about fishing

SC07

Here at SC07... power went down today and we lost SCInet for an hour or so.

Fulcrum and Xsigo have great tshirts. Foundry has some decent ones, too.

I was surprised to see Red Barn (from Binghamton) here. Their crew included the two guys I worked with on my CSI project.
